My name is Robert Christopher Nichols. I am a fine art photographer born and raised in Carmel Valley, California, currently residing in Pacific Grove, California. Growing up surrounded by the peninsula’s rugged coastline, breathtaking scenery, and unique microclimate has had an enormous impact in molding me into the photographer I am today. As a young boy, I have fond memories of traveling along the coast and being amazed by the variety of climate and vast differences in landscape that could be found throughout such a small radius. From the Valley's awe-inspiring rolling hills aglow to the romantic fog adrift along the Big Sur coastline, there was always a different view, and with each view came different feelings and emotions.
Personally, it is my belief that well executed fine art photography nourishes the soul. It allows an individual to become momentarily immersed in something positive and up-lifting. In this moment we are free from day to day distractions. This freedom allows one’s mind to connect to imagery on an emotional level. In its purest form, photographs tell us a story without words and brings the viewer's imagination to life. I believe capturing life’s fleeting moments is what photography is all about and it is important to me, as an artist, that people feel what I am trying to convey through my work.
